Hyperloop, the future of transportation?

Technology is one of the fastest growing and changing things in our society. Technology is expanding so fast that gadgets will double in performance and shrink in size within the next year. This doesn’t only mean that your phone, computer, tablet’s of today will be old news within a couple of months, but there might even be other electronic devices which will be able to do the same functions and even more.

Don’t be troubled by this news, but appreciate the advances. It was only a little over 6 years ago that most people carried around a flip phone and had a desktop as their personal computer. These advantages in technology are not hurting us, but improving our way of living.

People are able to work on the go with tablets, smartphones, and laptops. It wouldn’t be very surprising if other devices will be added onto this list within the next couple of years.

So, if technology is changing at such a fast paste, why are some states such as California trying to implement decade old way of transportation such as the Bullet Train to meet the need of tomorrow’s society? Probably because no other means of transportation really exist in today’s world.

Elon Musk, entrepreneur and founder of SpaceX co-founder of Tesla Motors and PayPal, has come up with a new means of super fast transportation. This new type of transportation, which he calls the Hyperloop, consists of pods traveling in low-pressure tubes. The Hyperloop would suck air through an intake turbine in the pod in order to levitate the pod from the tube. The pods would then move through means of electromagnetism at speeds of 800mph. That makes it faster than most airplanes. That means that the Hyperloop can safely transport people from Los Angeles to San Francisco within 35 minutes. And to top it all off, it would cost less to build than the Bullet Trains in California, at least based on what Elon’s opinion.

Even though this is just a concept, it is a challenge for entrepreneurs to make it a reality. Elon Musk has made this an open source project, allowing anyone to build it. If someone does build the Hyperloop, which would make it one of the most advanced piece of transportation we will have access to. It will most definitely suit the needs of generations to come, just as trains and cars have.

Many people are poking fun of Elon Musk and his ideal way of transportation. They’re saying that there is no need for such thing and that the costs would be too high. These are things that can’t accurately be determined until construction of the Hyperloop begins, if it does at all.

This concept can be built today with today’s technology. With technology growing as fast as it is today it could end up being costing cheaper than the bullet train. It makes a lot of sense for people to try and build this concept. Even Elon Musk, as busy as he is with SpaceX and Tesla Motors, has promised to build a small scale of this concept to prove that it works.

This new concept of transportation has the potential to change the world. There will be many people who will put down this revolutionary new idea based on opinions alone. Many people did the same with SpaceX and the personal computer and many other products, yet these are things that have and will change the course of mankind for generations to come. It is just a matter of time to see whether or not the Hyperloop will be built and implemented within the next two decades.
